James Gordon Thompson

James Gordon Thompson, 86, Willow Springs, Missouri, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Willow Care Nursing Home.
He was born November 20, 1938, at Elk Creek near Rover, Missouri, to James Walter Thompson and Mary P. Keltner Thompson. Mr. Thompson was an avid quail hunter and loved riding horses. He was a lifetime member of Missouri Foxtrot Horse Breeders Association, was a 33rd degree Mason at the Masonic Lodge in Joplin, Missouri, where he was a member for over fifty years.
He is survived by his son, Byron Thompson and wife, Marj, Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Jacob Thompson and wife, Amy and their child, Hadley Thompson, Overland Park, Kansas, Zachery Thompson, Anderson, Missouri, Allyison Thompson, Kansas City, Missouri and Madison Thompson, San Ramone, California; one sister, Linda Coursey, Springfield, Missouri; and one nephew, Brad Coursey, Springfield, Missouri.
His parents and one brother, Richard (Rick) Thompson, preceded him in death.
Arrangements under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
