Sharon K. Hinds 71, passed away peacefully in the arms of our Lord at 3:00 am Friday, September 26, 2014 at her home in West Plains, Missouri, surrounded by her family. She was born August 9, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to Jimmy and Louise Crafton.

After graduating from West Memphis High School, West Memphis, Arkansas in 1961, Sharon attended Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee where she received her Business degree. She worked in Memphis as a legal typist and bookkeeper while she earned her court reporting certification. Sharon was co-owner and an officer of Alpha Court Reporting Corporation in Memphis until 1991, when she retired and sold her business interest to her partner. Some of her favorite stories about her court room experiences involved her time in the renowned Judge Joe Brown’s court.

She married Greg Hinds on January 9, 1991 and relocated to Pinewood–Sour Lake, Texas. They bought their retirement home in West Plains and were in the process of permanently moving when Mrs. Hinds became ill. At her request, her family brought her home for her final days after treatment at M. D. Anderson in Houston, Texas.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She and her husband Greg were generous patrons of her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband Greg, her sister, Olivia Zinn and husband Jim of West Plains, her nephew David LaFevers of Columbia, Missouri, his son Payton of West Plains, and many Arkansas and Tennessee aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Louise Crafton of Strawberry, Arkansas, Maternal grandparents, James and Cora Smith, Poughkeepsie, Arkansas, Paternal grandparents, Elvie and Effie Crafton, Strawberry, Arkansas, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In her spare time she enjoyed golf, sewing, all kinds of crafts, painting, and her online card design club group. She was funny, creative and a true friend who cherished every friendship she ever had. Sharon was admired, respected, and trusted by her family, friends, employees, and business associates.  Sharon was a tender hearted, giving and generous caregiver for family, friends and her beloved pet Misty Bleu, her 3 pound Teacup Poodle.  Her smile lit up her whole face and she never met a stranger. One friend wrote “She will indeed be a beautiful angel … she has had a lifetime of practice caring for others.”  She will be remembered as a devoted wife, beloved sister, and true friend.  Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those of us who loved her.

A memorial celebration of her life will be planned for a later date.

Nancy Ellen Watkins was born March 20, 1942 in Lawrence, Kansas to Cecil and Edith Austill.  She passed away at 7:59 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2014 at the West Vue Nursing Center at the age of seventy-two years.

A graduate of Leavenworth High School, Nancy went on to graduate from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1963.  She worked as an R.N. for many years, primarily in skilled nursing facilities with her most recent position being at West Vue Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in West Plains.  She loved nursing, enjoyed the patients and staff, and dedicated herself to making sure all received the care they deserved.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her children, Jennifer Watkins, Carthage, Missouri and Chris Watkins, Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Jay Austill, wife, Debbie, Breckenridge, Colorado; a sister, Susan Johnson, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.  Thank you to Dr. Horstman, Dr. Makarian and the nurses and staff at West Vue for keeping her comfortable during her lengthy illness.

A memorial service for Kristopher Lee Parker, 39, West Plains, Missouri, will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the People’s Park, West Plains, Missouri.

Mr. Parker died at 3:27 p.m., Monday, September 22, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.

He was born June 23, 1975, on an Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Kenneth LeRoy Parker, Jr., and Katherine Stebbins Parker. He had worked as a saw operator at Timberland Pallet & Lumber.   He loved cars and rebuilding engines.

He is survived by two children, Destiny Parker, West Plains and Austin James Parker, Caulfield, Missouri; his mother, Katherine Parker, West Plains; former wife, Debra Plachy, West Plains; one brother, Kelly Lee Parker, West Plains; and one sister, Kimberly Mencl, West Plains.

His father and one brother, Kenneth Parker, III precede him in death.

Graveside services for Alvada Modesette, 94, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Modesette died at 8:08 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2014, at West Vue Nursing Center.

She was born June 7, 1920, at Dyersburg, Tennessee, to Oscar Davis and Elsie Claxton Davis. On January 17, 1942, she was married at Mountain Grove, Missouri, to John Harley Modesette, who preceded her in death on January 24, 1997. She graduated from West Plains High School and was a member of the West Plains Country Club. Mrs. Modesette was a member of the First Christian Church, West Plains, Missouri.

She is survived by one son, John Modesette, wife, Janis, Schertz, Texas; four grandchildren, Sarah, Abbey, Sheila and Donna; and nine great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Christina and two sisters, Ruby Penn and Ruth Butcher, precede her in death.

Addison went to be with the Angels at 2:00 a.m., Sunday, September 21, 2014, at her home.

She was born September 6, 2013, at St. Louis, Missouri, to Randall “Calvin” Due and Audrey Johnston.

A private memorial service for Beverly June Campbell West, 74, West Plains, Missouri, will be held by her family.

Mrs. West died at 12:15 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2014, at NHC Healthcare.

She was born October 25, 1939, at Bemidji, Minnesota, to John “J.D.” Yoakum and Clara Lou Stump Yoakum. On April 22, 2000, she was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Kenneth West, who preceded her in death on May 30, 2008. Mrs. West was an associate at Wal-Mart. She loved gardening and fishing and was known by her family for her beautiful smile and uplifting spirit. Mrs. West was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two children, Donnie Haynes, wife, Angee, West Plains, Missouri and Susie Thompson, husband, Jay, St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, John Haynes, Michelle Joyner, Chloe Yates, Jonah Thompson and Noah Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Ava, Allyssa, Adilee and Avery; and one sister, Darlene Fetrow, Olathe, Kansas.

Her parents, husband, one brother, Don Yoakum, one sister, Joyce Warren and daughter-in-law, Connie Haynes, precede him in death.

Mr. Myers died at 9:47 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Baxter Regional Medical Center, Mountain Home, Arkansas.

He was born February 29, 1952, at Phoenix, Arizona, to Paul Franklin Myers, Sr., and Ruby J. Deal Myers. On August 7, 1971, he was married at Bakersfield, Missouri, to Janet Marie Pemberton. He loved fishing with his grandchildren and teaching them about the outdoors. Mr. Myers was a Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Myers, of the family home; two children, Matthew Paul Myers, wife, Christine, Chicago, Illinois and Melissa Ruth Garbrecht, husband, Mike, Shorewood, Illinois; four grandchildren, Michael Garbrecht, Nathan Garbrecht, Anna Garbrecht and Clark Paul Myers; three sisters, Pauline Bolger, husband, Wayne, Aptos, California, Jerri Schleich, husband, Joe, Huntington Beach, California and Margaret Ralston, husband, Jim, Eufaula, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and one brother, James Myers, precede him in death.

Funeral services for Ethel May Smith, 77, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith died at 11:25 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at NHC Healthcare. She was born October 6, 1936, at West Plains, Missouri to Clarence Everett Bragg and Rosa Cherry Bragg.  On July 23, 1959, she was married at West Plains, Missouri to Forrest Junior Smith, who preceded her in death on February 26, 2013. Mrs. Smith played the piano for over sixty years at numerous churches, singings, weddings and for the local group “Soul Purpose” which included her daughter, Charlotte, Shelley Surface and Lisa Eades and also sang on Channel 38TV.  She did babysitting with lots of precious kids and in earlier years did ironing for people.  Mrs. Smith also worked at the International Shoe Factory for a number of years before its closing.  She enjoyed quilting and word search puzzles.  Mrs. Smith was a Christian, had been a Sunday School teacher for many years and attended China Union Church and previously attended Trinity Worship Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Smith, West Plains, Missouri and Juna Rice, husband, Shane, Norwood, Missouri; five grandchildren, Ian, Ivy, Lea, Timber and Annah Rice, Norwood, Missouri; one brother, Robert Bragg, wife, Bobbi, Sibley, Missouri; two sisters, Nellie Brickey, husband, Delbert, Batesville, Arkansas and Edith Surface, husband, Gayle, Pomona, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and a grand host of friends.

Her parents, husband, one daughter, Rebecca, three brothers, Clarence Everett Bragg, Victor Eugene Bragg and wife, Mary and John Bragg and wife, Ellen and two infant sisters, precede her in death.

Cathy met her Savior at 7:35 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was born August 2, 1965 at Governor’s Island, Manhattan, New York to Carl Dalton Kelly, Sr. and Marjorie Helen Wickham Kelly.  Cathy spent the majority of her life in West Plains and worked as a Paramedic for twenty-three years. After retirement, she found joy in family and friends. She enjoyed yard sales, auctions and thrift stores; was always on the hunt for a good deal. She also enjoyed her five yorkies, gardening, playing computer games, reading, being outdoors and on the water. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren. Cathy attended Trinity Worship Center.

Funeral services for Airman First Class Luke Aaron Smith, 25, Kirkland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico and formerly of Bakersfield, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Langston Street Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

He died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Airman First Class Smith was born December 29, 1988 at West Plains, Missouri to Howard Smith, Jr. and Elizabeth Friel Smith and was raised by Tim and Alice Williams.  He graduated from the Easter Sunrise Academy of Hardy, Arkansas. After graduation,  he worked for Foster Feed in Bakersfield, Missouri and had been a member of the Civil Air Patrol which influenced his decision to enter the United States Air Force.  Airman First Class Smith was an aerospace ground equipment specialist with the United States Air Force having been stationed for three years in Japan and currently serving at the Kirkland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A Memorial Service for Jack Ray Bridges, 83, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, September 14, 2014, at River of Life Church of God of Prophecy.

On September 9, 2014, Jack Bridges went to the Kingdom of God for his eternal life of youth, health and glory. The Holy Spirit comforted and gently took him through his transition to his eternal life after only a few hours at Ozarks Medical Center.

He was born January 24, 1931. Jack was a quiet man, reserved and Godly with unbelievable inner strength. His eighty-three years of physical life began wearing the uniform the United States Marine Corps; after his military service he was the chief dispatcher for Halliburton for thirty-three years. Retirement brought him to the Ozarks where much of his family began and he truly enjoyed the nature and peacefulness it brought his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy “Blondie” Bridges; grandson Peter Bridges, wife, Samantha, great-granddaughters, Ashlyn, Katlyn, Jaclyn and a great-great-granddaughter, Mykala; granddaughter Brandy Bridges Parker, great-granddaughters, Shealy, Macy and Elizabeth; great-great-granddaughter Amila; granddaughter Danielle Bridges, all of New Iberia, Louisiana; sister, Pat Arnold, husband, John, Carmi, Illinois; nieces, Teresa, State of Illinois, Linda, State of Oklahoma and Alicia, State of Wichita; nephews, Randy and Mike, State of Illinois, Rodney, New Orleans, Louisiana, Larry, Dennis and Randy, State of Florida.

His spirit will live on through all of us.

Final resting place will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Olden, Missouri, where he will be placed with his wife of sixty-three years, Wanda Bridges, who departed July 5, 2014, son, Terry, mother and father, Ruby and Amos Bridges, sister Billie June and many other family members that have gone before him.

A Memorial Service for Myron Clifford Ward, 80, Udall, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Bridges Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Ward died at 2:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at his home.

He was born September 25, 1933, in the State of Nebraska to Willard H. Ward and Flora E. Foster Ward. Before his retirement, Mr. Ward was a mechanic at Union Pacific Railroad and was also the owner and operator of a bar and grill in North Platte, Nebraska for thirty-two years. Mr. Ward was a member of Eagles Club and loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and working. He was a great story teller.

He is survived by his significant other, Ruby Robinson, Udall, Missouri; three children, Randall Allen Ward, Gennel Ward and Jerell Ward; two brothers, Wendell Ward, West Plains, Missouri and Dean Ward, Grand Island, Nebraska; and two sisters, LuEtta Clark and Lorene O’Dey, of the State of Nebraska. He was loved by his extended family which included Ruby’s children and grandchildren.

His parents and wife precede him in death.

Funeral services for Michael Don Carter, 63, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Carter died 2:09 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Ozarks Medical Center.

He was born November 15, 1950 at West Plains, Missouri to Betty Jo Talley Carter and the late Cleve Carter, Jr. He graduated from the West Plains High School with the Class of 1968 and was a veteran having served with the United States Army First Infantry Division from 1970 to 1972. He had been employed at Bridges Auto Parts, West Plains Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts and was a cattle hauler. He loved riding his horses, enjoyed drag racing and loved spending time with his grandsons.

He is survived by two daughters, Sara Beck, husband, Michael, Bois D’Arc, Missouri and Kelli McKee, husband, Jason, West Plains, Missouri; the mother of his children, Debbie Bonham; his mother, Betty Jo Carter Green, husband, Kenneth, West Plains, Missouri; three grandsons, Colton, Caleb and Colby Thomas; significant other, Lisa Cook, West Plains, Missouri; two brothers, Gary Carter, wife, Cheryl, Marshfield, Missouri and Larry Carter, wife, Janice, Peace Valley, Missouri; Kenneth Green’s children, Dwayne Green, wife, Jan, Ronnie Green, wife, Kathy and Roger Green, wife, Wendy; and several nieces and nephews.

His father, step-father, Glenn Cook, and several aunts and uncles precede him in death.

Mr. Carter will lie in state from 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 3rd, until service time in the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Graveside services for Cleo Joan Hopper, 86, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Howell Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hopper died at 10:53 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Ozarks Medical Center.

She was born April 4, 1928, at Delavan, Illinois, to Dwight and Mildred Thompson Winchester. In 1955, she was married to Lyle Hopper, who preceded her in death. Before her retirement, she was a secretary and data entry specialist for the Civil Service at a Naval Base. Her family was her life; she will be greatly missed by her family and extended family. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, bull riding and her favorite soap operas.

She is survived by four children, Steven Hopper, West Plains, Missouri, Randall Hopper, wife, Joan, Seattle, Washington, Darrell Hopper, Sparks, Nevada and Heidi Griffin, husband, Steve, West Plains, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Michael Riordan, wife, Jean, Bloomington, Illinois; two sisters, Stanna Breen, Bloomington, Illinois and Linda Loggins, husband, Harvey, Peoria, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents and husband precede her in death.

Graveside services for James Larry Peoples, 71, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Peoples died at 6:30 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1943, at Harrison, Arkansas, to Arthur James Peoples and Edna Mae Carter Davis Peoples. On October 15, 1961, he was married at Lanton, Missouri, to Brenda Kenslow. Mr. Peoples was a veteran having served with the United States Navy. He was a bus driver for Glenwood School and was known as “Grandpap” by the children. Mr. Peoples had also worked at Empire Gas, E. H. Carroll Trucking and the Howell County Sheriff’s Department. He was firefighter with the Lanton Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for many years. He enjoyed farming. Mr. Peoples was a Christian and was baptized at Hilltop Chapel as a teenager.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Peoples, of the family home; four children, Larry Peoples, wife, Anita, West Plains, Missouri, Timothy Peoples, of the family home, Johnny Peoples, Memphis, Tennessee and Jimmy Peoples, wife, Kim, West Plains, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Alex, Carissa, Brooke, Austin, Lakota, Dalton, Adam, Nathan and wife, Katlyn, Logan and Abbey; five step-granddaughters, Trista, Renita, Amber, Kate and Britnie; and two step-great-granddaughters, Lydia and Anna Sue.

His parents and three brothers, Billy Wayne Peoples and wife, Ruth, Dale Peoples and Johnny Peoples , precede him in death.

Mr. Davidson died at 9:25 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2014, at his home.

He was born July 2, 1929, at Chicago, Illinois, to Ernest Hugo and Augusta Marie Davidson. On June 20, 1953, he was married at Chicago, Illinois, to Dolores Florence Geisen, who preceded him in death on June 22, 2007. Mr. Davidson was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Before his retirement, he was a truck driver, was the owner/operator of a gas station and worked at B. F. Goodrich Tire. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He loved his grandchildren and was known as “Papa D”. Mr. Davidson was of the Swedish Lutheran faith.

He is survived by four children, Martin Davidson, Bakersfield, Missouri, Maureen Miles, husband, Michael, Highland, Illinois, John Davidson, wife, Debbie, Lake Station, Indiana and Joan Den Hartog, husband, Jay, Cedar Lake, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren with one on the way.

His parents, wife, one son, Ernest Davidson and one grandson, precede him in death.

Burial will be in the Bakersfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

A memorial service for Stanley Lee Gladson, 76, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Gladson died at 10:25 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, at his home.

He was born December 9, 1937, at Albia, Iowa, to Leo Gladson and Esther Courtney Gladson. On April 26, 1958, he was married at Corinth, Mississippi to Stella Louise Pugh, who preceded him in death on February 25, 2011.

He is survived byfive children, Shirley Morgan, Montezuma, Indiana, Stonie Gladson, wife, Joyce, Waterloo, Iowa, John Gladson, wife, Carleen, Federal Way, Washington, Scott Gladson, wife, Marie, Dysart, Iowa and Sandra Haws, husband, Ron, West Plains, M issouri; daughter-in-law, Kathy Gladson, Forest City, Iowa; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glen Gladson, Des Moines, Iowa, Cliff Gladson, wife, Darleen, Knoxville, Iowa and Don Gladson, wife, Joyce, albia, Iowa; three sisters, Ruth Williams, Pat Filman, Carol Rae, husband, Ken, and Sue Douthit, husband, Larry, all of Jacksonville, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife, one son, Steve and two great-grandsons, precede him in death.

Graveside services for Leroy Walker, 81, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2014, at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Walker died at 8:05 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at NHC Healthcare.

He was born January 27, 1933, at Hartville, Missouri, to Russell Leonard Walker and Marchia Pearl Collins Walker.

He is survived by three brothers, Dean Walker, wife, Saundra, West Plains, Missouri, Ralph Walker, significant other, Charlene Wharton and Donnie Walker, wife, Doris, Denver, Colorado; two sisters, Shirley Andrews, significant other, J.R. Ellison, West Plains, Missouri and Edna Walker, Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-law, Sally Walker, Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, three brothers, Clifford, Robert Lee and Leonard Ray, two sisters, Freda Hunt and Jewel Grace Walker, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Jenny Walker, two nephews, Larry Wayne Andrews and Russell Walker and one niece, Debra Babeon, precede him in death.

Mr. Walker will lie in state from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m., Thursday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Linell Eva Fowler, 80, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2014, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brandsville, Missouri, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fowler died at 3:42 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at her home.

She was born June 27, 1934, at Horry County, South Carolina, to William Kelly Fowler and Eva Hilburn Fowler. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, country music, watching westerns and loved to dance. Mrs. Fowler was a member of the Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Wayne Gore, wife, Charlotte, West Plains, Missouri; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one brother, Norman Fowler, Green Sea, South Carolina.

Her parents, second husband, Jerry Shelly, one son, Ronald C. Gore and four brothers, precede her in death.
