Elaine Byerly Chewning, 93, West Plains, Missouri, passed away at West Vue Nursing Center on February 9, 2017.  She was born July 29, 1923 at Baltimore, Maryland to Harry and Lillian Byerly.

She is survived by two sons, Paul B. Emmel, wife, Lisa and David W. Byerly, one daughter, Merry E. Sullivan, husband, James, all of West Plains, Missouri; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and one nephew.

Her parents, one sister, Ruth A. Klock and nephews, precede her in death.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Chewning was a school bus driver for over 30 years in Virginia.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and was well known for the beautiful flowers she grew.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
