Obituary

Visitation services for Gerald Parmer, 89, West Plains, Missouri, will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Parmer died at 8:20 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014, at West Vue Nursing Center.

He was born August 31, 1924, at Greenwood, Arkansas, to Virgil Willis Parmer and Grace Florence Burton Parmer.  On May 24, 1948, he was married at Modesto, California, to Opal Fern Hudson, who preceded him in death on November 15, 2011.  Mr. Parmer was a WW II Veteran, having served with the United States Army.  He was a farmer and had been a high school groundskeeper at Riverbank, California.  Mr. Parmer was a member of the American Legion and loved to play guitar.

He is survived by two children, Patricia Parmer, West Plains, Missouri and Eldon Ray Parmer, State of Alabama; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Curtis Parmer, State of Oregon; two sisters, Ruby Jean Riley, State of California and Prudence Ann Casey, State of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife and two brothers, precede him in death.

Burial will be in the Mackey Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
