Jon McKamie Langston

A memorial service for Jon McKamie Langston, 52, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Jon McKamie Langston left us too soon on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Kamie passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the comfort and love of his closest family members, friends and his beloved dog Arthur.

Kamie was a kind and beautiful soul who genuinely wished the best for anyone he met. He was the first person in a room to include others without judgment and share his empathetic spirit. He was a forgiving and loving human who simply wanted the world to love and care for one another.

Kamie graduated from West Plains High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Drury University. He dedicated twenty years of his life working for the State of Missouri Division of Youth Services at Gentry Residential Center in Cabool, MO. He loved empowering young people to develop positive relationships and better life skills. He considered many of the youth his children and he helped change the life paths of hundreds of young men over the years.

Kamie was married to Ida Kay (Johnson) in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas on September 19, 2009. Their love for one another and for travel took them to 33 countries and 21 states. Kamie was an adventurous eater and would always order the most uncommon item on any country’s menu including a myriad of strange but apparently delicious dishes.

He is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Ida Kay; his brother, Matt Langston and wife, Mallory; his sister Amber Langston; and his mother Janice Bowden.

He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Elbridge Langston, his stepfather, Keith Bowden, his favorite cousin, Derrick LaFevers, a good friend, Mike Perisho, and multiple other cousins, grandparents, family members and friends who he is now reunited with in heaven.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Druery Dixon who provided compassionate care to Kamie for many years and the employees at the OZH GI Lab for their kindness, prayers, and professionalism over the last several months.

Though this world has lost a human who tried to make everyone feel seen and loved, the family’s grief is only tempered by the fact that he is now reunited with his father.

In lieu of flowers, it was Kamie’s wish for donations to be made to the Gentry Community Liaison Council (Gentry CLC) which provides the Gentry Residential Center with necessary items and scholarships for the youth.  Memorial contributions may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
