A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date for Melinda Johnson, 80, West Plains, Missouri.

Mrs. Johnson passed away at 10:00 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2020, at her home.

She was born November 16, 1939, at East Sumner, Maine, to Alfred Putnam Chesley and Grace Alice Fearon Chesley.  Melinda was a Registered Nurse and had worked at Ozarks Medical Center and the West Plains R-7 School District for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was known for her gardening and flowers.  Mrs. Johnson attended Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by three children, Brian Kinder and wife, Debra, Lucinda Jones and husband, Kenny and Sheila Kinder; five grandchildren, Sam, Cassidy, Caitlin, Amber and Brandi; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Chesley and wife, Betty and Russell Chesley and wife, Marilyn; one sister, Merriel Perry and husband, Robert; one brother-in-law, Daniel Douglass; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband and one sister, Martha Douglass, preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO  65775.
