Michael Thomas Olberding
Graveside services for Michael Thomas Olberding, 82, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Meltabarger Cemetery, on County Road 9230, West Plains.
Mr. Olberding passed away November 2, 2025, following a brief illness.
He was born September 28, 1943, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Leander (Bun) Olberding and Mary Daughtery Olberding. Mike was a graduate of Drake University, where he met and married Kay Prantl in 1965. Mike served in the United States Army from 1966-1969, completing his service as a First Lieutenant. Mike worked for State Farm Insurance as a Director of Management, Planning, and Information for over 30 years, first in Monroe, Louisiana, then in Birmingham, Alabama, before retiring with Kay to her family’s farm in Howell County, Missouri. He was a member of Brandsville Church of Christ.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kay; his son, Bruce, and granddaughters, Adelaide (Della) and Lila; his daughter, Amy, and his son-in-law, Garret, and granddaughter, Lina (Adelein); as well as by many other family and friends, both near and far. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
Memorial contributions may be made to Meltabarger Cemetery, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri 65775.

So many wonderful memories of Mike. He will be so missed. His thoughtfulness and ability to encourage others has made a lasting mark on my life.

My Uncle Mike was larger than life. He is the reason why I look forward to going to movies during the holidays with my family. When I was a kid, the adults really didn’t talk much to us, but uncle Mike always did he always seemed to see us. He sent me a birthday card every single birthday for 48 years. He had a gift for sending people things in the mail. I learned later in life that he was more tender hearted than I had thought because he always laughed and told us jokes I’m grateful for all the ways he loved our family. He will be missed.

Just found out today that Mike had past away. We used to worship at the Riverchase church of Christ in Alabama.
