She’s always corrected me whenever I said “my sister-in-law”, she’d say “no, she’s my sister.”
Rest in paradise, the only sister I ever had. You’ll live through your daughters and I promise to do my best to take care of them and raise them the way you always wanted to, though I’ll never be as good as you were, but I learned a lot from you. I promise to teach them Arabic and lots of Quran. I promise to always be there for both of them. And as you’d always say, I’ll be forever cool auntie lulu.

She loved all of you so very much. I’m thinking of all of you and in a funny way, it feels like I know you. Again, please accept my humble condolences. My heart breaks for Saleh and I think of him most often. I pray that the comfort and love of his family and friends and all of the lives that Nicole touched will surround him and sustain him through these dark and terrible days. <3

I’m so sad, I did not know Nicole but I loved reading her blog.
I am praying that your faith will help you through this very difficult time. I pray that you will find the strength to get you through your grief and sadness.

    In thinking about your loss.
Here I will quote the poet Ellen Brenneman, “We can’t know why the lily has so brief a time to bloom in the warmth of sunlight’s kiss upon its face before it folds into its fragrance and bids the world good night to rest its beauty in a gentler place. But we can know that nothing that is loved is ever lost and no one who has touched a heart can really pass away because some beauty lingers on in each memory of which they’ve been a part.”

I cannot fully express the depth of my sorrow. Nicole was an amazing human being and she shared so much with us. I wish I could tell you this in person. Every time I think of Saleh with those two babies, I start to cry. I just ache for him, and not just him but everyone who had been infected by her joy and her wit. I’m sorry that I didn’t know how ill she was. I knew that she was in terrible pain and I said prayer for her recovery. My sincerest condolences to her family and friends and please, please know that so many people share your grief. There are so many lives, all over the world that Nicole touched and engaged. Thank you Nicole, we’ll talk to you later. <3

I did not know Nicole personally but have enjoyed her blog for years. Her warmth, intelligence, and humor shone through, as did her deep love for her family. Her passing is a great loss. While I am a stranger to you, please know that your family is in my prayers.
