Funeral services for Arthur Bell, Jr., 82, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Bell died at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.
He was born May 4, 1930, at Trail, Missouri, to Arthur Bell, Sr. and Ethel Young Bell. He graduated from West Plains High School with the Class of 1947 and on May 29, 1950, he was married at Clayton, New Mexico, to Darlene Dorothy McCandless, who preceded him in death on October 22, 1992. Mr. Bell was a veteran having served with the United States Marines during the Korean conflict. Before his retirement, he was a route driver for Jones Candy and Interstate Bakery. He loved hunting, fishing, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams football.
He is survived by two children, Vernon Neal Bell, wife, Debbie and Velma Jean Turner, husband, Don, all of West Plains, Missouri; five grandchildren, Chad Turner, wife, Laura, Ozark, Missouri, Amanda Turner, West Plains, Missouri, Chris Bell, wife, Desiree, Denver, Colorado, Kimberly Bell and Jodie Bell, both of West Plains, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Turner and Breckin Bell and one on the way; one aunt, Marie Hall, Springfield, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife, one son, Veryl Bell, one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Ruby Bell and one nephew, R. L. Bell, precede him in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
