Funeral services for Bernice Elnore Lillian Spotts, 89, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Bernice passed away at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at West Vue Nursing Center.
She was born September 27, 1923, at Judd, North Dakota, to Morris and Hilda Lee Mickelson. In 1940, she was married to Henry Podoll, who preceded her in death. To this union, three children were born, Elaine, Harvey and Julie. On November 21, 1964, she was married at Hawthorne, California, to Glen Campbell Spotts, who preceded her in death on November 23, 2010. Bernice took great pride in being a Norwegian and of the Lutheran faith all of her life; family meant so much to her and God had blessed her with three wonderful children. She worked all of her life and retired from Eaton Corporation in 1983.
She is survived by her son, Harvey Podoll, wife, Sandy, State of California; her daughter, Julie Edwards, husband, Ronnie, West Plains, Missouri; one son-in-law, Bill White, Steelville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Cindy Anderson, DuBois, Pennsylvania, Brian White, wife, Joanne, West Plains, Missouri, Dailene Forbes, husband, Keith, Steelville, Missouri, Karen Alston, husband, Mark, State of Ohio, Mark Podoll, wife, Jenn, State of California, Mike Edwards, wife, Misty, West Plains, Missouri and Mark Edwards, wife, Britne, West Plains, Missouri; fourteen great-grandchildren, Ashley Anderson, Chelsea Anderson, Paige White, Andrew White, Kaitlynne Forbes, Alyssa Forbes, Carl Alston, Cate Alston, Chelsea Podoll, Madison Podoll, Cordell Ryan, Taylor Ryan, Alexis Edwards and Landon Edwards; one great-great-grandchild, Jax; one sister, Delores Carlson, State of North Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husbands, one daughter, Elaine White and seven brothers and sisters, precede her in death.
Mrs. Spotts will lie in state from 12:00 noon Saturday until 12:00 noon Sunday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
