Obituary

Graveside services for Billie Louise Briscoe, 74, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2013, at New Liberty Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Briscoe died at 4:10 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at her home, holding hands with the love of her life and her family surrounding her, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born November 11, 1938, in Ozark County, Missouri, to Willie Hobert Lewis and Alma Newton Lewis. Mrs. Briscoe graduated from West Plains High School with the Class of 1956 and on December 29, 1956, she was married at Hernando, Mississippi, to Jerry Briscoe.  Mrs. Briscoe had been a Star Route mail carrier with the United States Postal Service for forty years.  She was a member of the Star Route Carriers Association, serving as Vice-President for thirty-nine years and was also a member of Howell County Rural Fire Department Auxiliary.  She was extremely dedicated to her family and the grandchildren were the light of her life.  Holidays were always spent at Nanny's where the food was bound to be plentiful and great.  Mrs. Briscoe had been a Christian since a young age and recently attended Spring Creek Congregational Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Briscoe, of the family home; three children, Vickie Lawrence, husband, Eddie, West Plains, Missouri, Rodney Briscoe, wife, Marilyn, Lanton, Missouri and Jo Lindberg, West Plains, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jerrod Lawrence, Myrtle, Missouri, Mariah Hayes, husband, Jason, West Plains, Missouri, Ira Briscoe, Lanton, Missouri, Tessa Lindberg, West Plains, Missouri, Zoë Lindberg, West Plains, Missouri; a great-grandson, Judson Lawrence Hayes due in November; three step-grandchildren, Nita Cawvey, husband, Scott, West Plains, Missouri, Nancy Foulke, husband, Bob, Cassville, Missouri and Kelli VonAllmen, husband, Ricky, West Plains, Missouri; six step-great-grandchildren, Scotty Cawvey, Ann-Renée Cawvey, Madison VonAllmen, Taylor VonAllmen, Evan Foulke and Luke VonAllmen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, mother-in-law, Artie Briscoe; and one sister, Lea Modene Carrico Collins, precede her in death.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.   Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
