Carol Ann
Mayfield
December 31, 1945 – April 26, 2026
On a cold winter evening, December 31st, 1945, a baby girl, Carol Ann Redburn, was born to Lester and Alice (Hartzmann) Redburn. She departed this life on April 25th, 2026, at West Vue Nursing Center, West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.
Carol received her education in the West Plains schools, graduating with the Class of 1964. On January 2, 1970, she married Robert Mayfield, becoming an instant and loving mom to 2 ½-year-old Brian Mayfield. After living away for several years, she and her family returned to West Plains in 1977, where she began working in the job printing department of the West Plains Daily Quill until her well-deserved retirement. She became a mom a second time on September 24, 1984, to Timothy Mayfield. Carol loved traveling and photography, and she attained her lifelong dream of visiting all 50 states. Carol loved having new experiences and meeting people. She was a master home chef as well and could serve fried chicken that would make a certain military-rank restaurant owner take notes. She made the fluffiest biscuits from scratch, but could not tell you the recipe. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in West Plains, Missouri. Carol was a loving and loyal Christian, wife, mom, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her sons, Brian Mayfield, Marshfield, Missouri and Timothy Mayfield and wife, Melissa, Jonesboro, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Ashlie Thompson, Drew Wood, and Theodore Mayfield; two great-grandchildren, Levi and Addison Thompson; sister-in-law, Joyce Redburn; nieces, Jennifer Wheeler and husband, Corey and Lisa Rodgers and husband, Jimmy; and other cousins and extended family.
Her grandparents, parents, and brother, Roger Redburn, precede her in death.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
