Obituary

Funeral services for Charles Richard Barcus, 86, Tecumseh, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

On March 20, 2026, Charles Richard Barcus entered into heaven. Richard was born on September 17, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio to Charles and Lora Barcus. The family moved to Ozark County in the early 50’s. Richard graduated from Dora High School in 1957. He was adamant that the way to live life was through Faith, Family, and Country. He maintained these beliefs by studying the word of God, always being there for his family and serving his country. Shortly after graduating, he joined the US Navy where he proudly served for 8 years and was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. He served as a radio/radar man on a patrol bomber and was later trained in aviation electronics. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to St. Louis and continued the United States war effort by working at McDonald Douglas. With the Ozarks calling and wanting to be near his family, he moved back to Hocomo. He worked at Morlan Shell Ford with his father for several years. Later, he went to work for Amyx Auto Ford in Gainesville. Shortly after that change in employment, he began the life of husband and father to Donna and DeAnn. Sadly, God called Donna home. His family grew in 1998 when he married Bettie Carpenter. By the grace of God, for 28 years they created wonderful memories of faith, family and outdoor activities that even included a pleasant deer hunting competition.

Richard is preceded in death by parents Charles and Lora Barcus, Donna Barcus, siblings Charlene and Jerry, and his granddaughter Serena Funk.

He is survived by his loving wife Bettie; children DeAnn (Tom), Bobbie (Scott) and Kenny (Jeana); grandchildren Jared, Jessica, Christa, Mitchell, Bailey, and Scott; great-grandchildren Bailey, McKenze, Saydee, Parker, Jordan, Natalee, Emily, Titan, Waylon, and Canyon; along with many nieces and nephews.

All family and friends will mourn the passing of Richard, but all are rejoicing because we know he is now in with his God and Savior.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
