Graveside services for James Peter Byrd, 62, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Valhalla Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.

Mr. Byrd passed away May 1, 2017 at his home.

He was born June 20, 1954, at Richmond Heights, Missouri to Herman Clyde Byrd, Sr. and Dorothy Lola Nitchmann Byrd.  He graduated from McCluer High School with the Class of 1972.  He then entered the Marine Corps, graduating from basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.  Mr. Byrd graduated with an associate's degree in 1995 from Sanford-Brown College, Hazelwood, Missouri.

He is survived by daughter, Sarah Lewallen, Kansas; two granddaughters; sister-in-law, Wanda Byrd, West Plains, Missouri; along with a niece, nephew and several cousins.

His parents, and one brother, Herman C. Byrd, Jr., precede him in death.
