Obituary

A celebration of life for Judith Lee Ray, 73, West Plains, Missouri, will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the South Campus of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ray died at 1:44 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at her home.

She was born May 9, 1942, at Hampton, Arkansas, to Dewey Quentin Amyx and Dorothy Jane (Hughes) Amyx.  She spent most of her childhood in Memphis, Tennessee. On November 22, 1989, she was married at Willow Springs, Missouri, to David J. Ray; then moved with him to Concordia, Kansas in 1991, before returning to West Palins in 2010.  She held a strong Christian faith was a member of First Baptist Church of West Plains.  She loved children and loved being outside, viewing God's wonderful creation.

She is survived by her husband, David J. Ray, of the family home; two children, Lee Freeman, wife, Brenda, West Plains, Missouri and Wes Freeman, wife, Heather, Cuba, Kansas; two step-children, Cindy Hamade, Charlottsville, Virginia and Laura Stewart, husband, Jim, Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Henley; two sisters, Erin Farmer and Jana Nelson, husband, Duane; and one aunt and uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents and one brother, Jack Amyx, precede her in death.

Memorial Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of West Plains, or to WATOTO, (watoto.com) an African children's fund that Mrs. Ray supported and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
