Louie Douglas "Doug" Deming, 81, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma at the Norman Veterans Center. Born on April 25, 1944, in Fresno, California, Doug lived a life full of adventure, hard work, and love.

Doug graduated from Clovis High School in California before serving his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. His time in the military was a defining chapter of his life and instilled in him a deep sense of duty and resilience.

On August 25, 1973, Doug married the love of his life, Marilyn Frances Krause. Their marriage was a testament to unwavering devotion and partnership. Together for 47 years until Marilyn's passing, Doug cherished her deeply and carried her memory with him always. The couple embarked on many adventures together, including a brief stint farming in Idaho before settling in various locations such as West Plains, Missouri; Winfield, Kansas; and finally settling in Ponca City, Oklahoma for the last 30 years.

Doug built a career as a truck driver specializing in hauling propane. He often worked long hours and returned home late at night after his children were already asleep. Despite his demanding schedule, he prioritized family time by taking annual road trips across America. These vacations became cherished memories for his family.

Doug was a man of many passions. He had an enduring love for airplanes and motorcycles and embraced every opportunity to travel the country. Always up for new experiences, he approached life with an adventurous spirit that inspired those around him. He also had a gift for humor and connection-his fun-loving nature and quick wit made him unforgettable to everyone he met. Whether cracking jokes or dancing without a care in the world (even if others were watching), Doug brought joy wherever he went.

A man of faith, Doug grew up attending Baptist services but became a member of the Church of Christ after marrying Marilyn. His faith was an integral part of his life and guided him through both triumphs and challenges.

Doug is survived by his son Ralph Douglas Deming; daughter Mary Jolyn Bauer; son-in-law Thomas Corbin Bauer; granddaughters Mary Kaitlyn Bauer and Audrey Elyse "Ellie" Bauer; as well as four beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn Frances Deming; brothers James Donald Deming and Richard Dean Deming; father Wayne Deming; and mother Zelda Louise Franklin.

Throughout his life, Doug found companionship not only in people but also in his loyal canine friends who brought him comfort and happiness. He never met a stranger-his warmth made everyone feel like they belonged-and he leaves behind countless friends who will miss his infectious laughter and kind heart.

Doug's legacy is one of love, resilience, humor, and adventure. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him as they celebrate the remarkable life he lived.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 29, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 03:00 PM at Hartford Ave Church of Christ 1905 Joe St, Ponca City, OK 73112.

A private burial will be held at Free Union Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
