Obituary

Graveside services for Marylene Wade Romans, 91, of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2026, at Union Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Marylene passed away peacefully at her home on August 11, 2026. She was born on December 25, 1934, in West Plains, to Clyde Walter Wade and Elsie Vina (Gunter) Wade.

On March 9, 1951, Marylene was married to William Joe “Bill” Romans, Sr., in West Plains. Together, they were blessed with eight children. Marylene was a lifelong Christian whose faith was evident in the way she loved and served others. She worked in the nursery at the hospital for more than 21 years and took great pride in having “rocked over half of Howell County.”

Marylene loved her family dearly and treasured time spent with them. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and reading and talking about the Bible. She especially enjoyed attending stock car races to watch her son Billy and son-in-law Jerry compete, never missing a race. She was well known for her homemade pies, hot rolls, and cinnamon rolls, which she took great joy in making for others.

She is survived by five children, Mary Jo Croney and husband Jerry of West Plains, Randall Romans and wife Teresa of West Plains, Trena Parker and husband Lee of West Plains, Teresa Jolliff and husband Jim of West Plains, and Billy Romans, Jr., and wife Christina of Republic, Missouri; son-in-law, Cal Hutchings; two sisters, Vonda Johnson and Joy Strawn; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her parents; husband, William Joe Romans, Sr.; infant son, William Clyde Romans; children, Delbert Romans and Ruth Hutchings; grandson, Samuel Paul Romans; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Croney; three sisters, Rosalee Ryan, Dianna Hoagland, and Clydene Strader; and four brothers, Lawrence Wade, Arnold Wade, James Wade, and Warren Wade, preceded her in death.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Union Grove Cemetery, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
