Obituary

Michael Howard Tuma, 76, of West Plains, Missouri, will be laid to rest on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln, Illinois.

Michael passed away at his home on April 17, 2026. He was born on January 21, 1950, in Chicago to Howard Emil Tuma and Alice Dell Board.

Michael lived a life defined by passion, community involvement, and a deep love for family and hobbies. From a young age, he showed remarkable athletic ability, particularly in baseball. His talent earned him attention from several Major League Baseball scouts before an injury sustained while playing football altered his path. Despite this setback, his love for sports never faded. He remained actively involved in athletics throughout his life, serving as president of the Blue Island, Illinois Little League program and inspiring countless young players. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course and was a longtime league bowler, forming friendships and memories that lasted decades.

Beyond sports, Michael had a lifelong appreciation for automobiles, especially Lincolns and Mercurys. A 1969 Cougar convertible he owned years ago remained one of his most treasured memories and a symbol of his passion for classic automobiles.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda Renee Domurat and husband, Ted, and Scott Michael Tuma and wife, Sharon; five grandchildren, Ted Domurat IV, Julia Domurat, Ashley Tuma, Ethan Tuma, and Sophie Tuma; one brother, Mark Tuma and wife, Susan, and their two sons, John and Jim; one sister, Cheryl Tuma-Portner, and her daughters, Katie, Emily, and Stephanie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
