Funeral services for Phyllis Lorene Rigger, 81, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rigger died 4:08 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Ozarks Medical Center. She was born January 9, 1932 at Davenport, Iowa to Joseph Dobbs and Mable Tillman Dobbs. She attended the West Plains High School and later in life received her GED. On July 27, 1947, she was married at West Plains, Missouri to James Rigger. At one time, Mrs. Rigger operated the Missouri Department of Revenue License Office in Gainesville, Missouri and before her retirement, worked at Baxter Lab, Mountain Home, Arkansas. When her children were in school, she was involved with the PTA, and later was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the Pilot Knob Eastern Star, Dora, Missouri, having served as a District Deputy Grand Matron. For a few years, Mrs. Rigger sold at Silver Dollar City her own creation of Amish Dolls and handmade Angels. She loved to fish, garden, enjoyed quilt making and was a great cook. Mrs. Rigger was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Central Calvary Baptist Church, West Plains.
She is survived by her husband, James Rigger, of the family home; two children, Katherine (Kathy) Allee, husband, David, Nixa, Missouri and Larry Rigger, wife, Kathy, Springfield, Missouri; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Driscoll, husband, Jim, West Plains, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Donna Dobbs, Springfield, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, one son, Bradley James Rigger and one brother, Hervy Dobbs, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rigger will lie in state from 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 26th until service time at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Hale Cemetery near Dora, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital or Hale Cemetery and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
