Sheryl Evelyn Boss, born May 14, 1968, in West Plains, Missouri, passed away on April 14, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri. She was the cherished daughter of the late John F. “Fred” Boss and Vicki L. (Edgar) Hogan.
Growing up, Sherry enjoyed camping, swimming, and hunting with her father and stepfather, and she proudly served as a cheerleader during her high school years. She graduated from West Plains High School and went on to build a life filled with creativity and hard work. She loved collecting jewelry, making crafts, and working alongside her stepfather Gary on remodeling projects.
Sherry had a wide range of interests that reflected her vibrant personality. She enjoyed listening to stand-up comedy and had a deep love for music, often starting her mornings with her favorite songs as she got ready for the day. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and could often be found watching documentaries. She also treasured simple moments, such as watching television with her father, MASH being a favorite, and spending time rock hounding along the river, a pastime she especially enjoyed with her family.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age. She was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church in West Plains.
At the time of her passing, Sherry was employed with Air Evac Life Team, where she was known for her dedication and work ethic.
She is survived by her daughter, Destany Boss and her partner, Ethan; her mother, Vicki Hogan; her siblings, Carol Boss and husband, Matt, Charlotte Wallace and husband, Steve, Michael Boss and wife, Valerie, Jay Boss and wife, Fraley, and Sandi Simmons and husband, Matt; her stepmother, Sandi Boss; her aunts and uncle, including Evelyn and Larry Woods, and Sherryl Brannan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved dog, Joey.
She was preceded in death by her father, John F. Boss, her stepfather, Gary Hogan, her grandparents, John T. and Marie Boss, and Frank and Georgia Edgar, and her uncle, Eldan Brannan.
Memorial services for Sherry will be Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church West Plains, in the East Campus building. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. prior to the services at the same location. The family would appreciate flowers or trees that could be planted in memory of their loved one. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Plains Public Library or Martha Vance Samaritan Outreach Center and left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
