Funeral services for Steven Donald Brown, 49, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Steven was born August 26, 1977 and peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 7, 2026, at his home after a difficult battle with cancer.

Steve was a lifelong resident of Howell County, graduating from West Plains High School with the Class of 1995. On July 20, 1996, he married his best friend, Amber Carter. Steve was baptized into Christ on August 17, 1996, at the West 160 Church of Christ and continued as a faithful servant for the remainder of his life.

He spent several years working in the telecommunications field at Falcon Communications, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father. He also had the opportunity to use his skills at Jasper Engines and Transmissions, West Plains Electric, Invensys and Ozarks Healthcare. He was richly blessed by The Creator with a brilliant mind and natural abilities. If you wanted to see what Steve was capable of, you simply had to imply that something was beyond his abilities and he was almost certain to prove you wrong in a grand and glorious way! In 2019 he fulfilled his dream of becoming self employed which gave him the ability to use his skills to help others with home remodels, electrical jobs and repairs, always dropping whatever he was doing when someone needed him.

One of his greatest accomplishments was being able to work alongside his son, Hayden Brown on many projects, including building a home from the ground up for his daughter, Kaylee Collins and her family. In 2019 he brought Amber’s dream of sharing ferments with the community to reality by beginning a business at the Go Farm Farmers Market. He made many friends there and people would come by the market stand each week just to visit with him. The business was blessed and is still ongoing today involving several members of the family.

Steve went above life being a hard worker (Colossians 3:23-24). He was strong, independent, light-hearted, funny, genuine and real. He was a man of conviction, a rock that you could always count on. He was a friend to all and a best friend to many. He had a gift for seeing the needs of others and he did his best to fulfill those needs. He was a servant to his family and to anyone he came in contact with. He was someone who could always see the truth. You never had to guess whether or not he would do the right thing, honesty was his governing rule. His number one goal in life was to get his family and himself to heaven. He stressed to everyone he knew that there was only one thing that mattered in life: to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13; Matthew 22:37-40)

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Amber Brown; three children, Kaylee Collins and husband, Wyatt (and their children, Everett and Mabel), Hayden Brown and wife, Alyssa (and their children, Henry, Thomas and Connor), and Kinley Brown; his parents, Keith and Sonda Brown; his sister, Lacy Walker and husband, Kevin (and their children, Natalie and Joel); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Janice Carter; and his sister-in-law, Brittany Farmer and husband, Jared (and their children, Lucas, Ellie and Ian).

His grandfather, Donald Brown and his grandmother, Leona Brown preceded him in death.

Burial will be at Gospel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Falling Springs Cemetery or Gospel Hill Cemetery, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
