Sunshine Frances
Bales

Bakersfield Assembly of God Church
9:00 - 10:00 am (Central time)
Funeral services for Sunshine Frances Bales, 94, Bakersfield, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2026, at Bakersfield Assembly of God, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bales passed away at 7:09 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Ozarks Healthcare.
She was born May 8, 1932, at Lake City, Arkansas, to John L. Good and Sarah Myrtle Nutt Good. Sunshine lived an active life working at Baxter Lab for over 20 years while remaining active with her hobbies of crochet and baking – once making and selling 99 fried pies. She taught Sunday school class at Bakersfield Assembly of God where she was a faithful member her entire adult life. And while she was proud of her work and her hobbies, it is her faith in Christ for which she would want to be remembered; the beauty of her shouting in the Spirit as she surrendered in worship, the strength of her encouragement during a sermon, the harmony of her praise during the worship service. Her name was prophetic. She was pure Sunshine in the lives of her family, her colleagues, her church family, her friends and even in the lives of perfect strangers. While we mourn and will miss her terribly, in the words of her remaining baby brother, Carlyle Good, I am joyful knowing Erby and Connie, our parents and siblings along with her Savior were waiting at the gate to welcome Sunshine to her Heavenly Home. Psalms 30:5…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, her son, Don and his wife, Carmen; six grandchildren, Alecia, Michael, Jason, Karen, Georgianna and Marybeth; fourteen great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren with number eighteen on the way.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m., Friday, at Bakersfield Assembly of God. Burial will be at Bakersfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
