A memorial service for Thomas Wayne Thompson, 76, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2026, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Thompson passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026.
He was born July 17, 1949, at West Plains, Missouri, to Ethel Tusher Thompson and George Thompson. Thomas spent most of his life in the Detroit, Michigan area and moved back to West Plains after retirement. Mr. Thompson was a veteran; he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November 1966 and served in the Vietnam War becoming a Sergeant in April of 1969. He continued his devotion through membership with AMVETS Post #98. He will be deeply remembered for his love of country, fast cars and watching football. He dedicated his career to General Motors and Detroit Axle.
He is survived by his three children, Keith Thompson, Teri Caviston and husband, Tom Caviston and Jessica Thompson; five grandchildren, Caitlin and Jake Caviston, Jay’zon, Jaya, and Ajay; one brother, Jimmy Thompson; one sister, Debra Crowder and husband, Homer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Nancy Thompson and Ella Hall and her husband,Leroy Hall, one sister-in-law, Agnes Thompson (Jimmy’s wife), and one stepson, Jason McBryar.
A candlelight vigil honoring Mr. Thompson will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday at AMVETS Post #98. Memorial contributions may be made to AMVETS Post #98, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
