Alma Jean Surritte

Graveside services for Alma Jean Surritte, 86,West Plains, Missouri,  will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Amy Union Cemetery, Hocomo, Missouri, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home

Mrs. Surritte died at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Republic, Missouri.

She was born August 7, 1925, at Fowler, Kansas, to Felix Carter Berry and Alma Huffman Berry.  On March 22, 1942, she was married at Wichita, Kansas, to Calvin Surritte, who preceded her in death on January 5, 1971. She had lived in West Plains nearly 60 years, having also lived in Wichita, Kansas for a number of years.  Jean was an original member of the Friends of the Library organization for the West Plains Public Library, where she was an active member from 1979 to 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Warren Surritte, Willow Springs, Missouri, and Michael Surritte, Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Linda DeMore, Republic, Missouri, and Janice Collins, West Plains, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, and several brothers and sisters, precede her in death.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Amy Union Cemetery, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
