Bobby Joe “Bob” Hunter
A Memorial Service for Bobby Joe “Bob” Hunter, 82, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at United Freewill Baptist Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home,
Mr. Hunter died at 5:03 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at Brooke Haven Healthcare.
He was born October 7, 1931, at Springfield, Missouri, to Roy Stone Hunter and Rosella Finkbinner Hunter. He graduated from West Plains High School with the Class of 1950. On December 25, 1955, he was married at Bakersfield, Missouri, to Wanda Rand Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict with the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked for forty-five years as a grade checker for Howard Construction and many other contractors helping build roads in Missouri and Arkansas and curb and guttering in West Plains, his last job being the overpass at Willow Springs. Bob was an avid hunter and loved to fish and float Norfork River; he loved taking his grandchildren fishing, swimming and floating. He also enjoyed his garden and tried each year to have the earliest and largest tomatoes. Mr. Hunter was a member of the United Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda Hunter, of the family home; one son, Jeff E. Hunter, wife, Sharon, Tull, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jeffery Stone Hunter, Tull, Arkansas and Amanda Hunter Monks, husband, Zack, Benton, Arkansas; expecting his first great-grandchild in March; one twin sister, Betty Dunaway, Willow Springs, Missouri; one brother, Jack Hunter, wife, Pauline, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, three brothers, Richard, Tom and Roy Edward Hunter, and two brothers-in-law, Sidney Dunaway and Joe Roth, one sister-in-law, Ann Roth, precede him in death.
Burial will be at a later date in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Wanda and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I had the honor of taking care of your loved one his entire stay at Brooke haven so i feel like I lost a good friend. He was one of the bravest men I ever knew and we will miss him always, but so glad his pain is over. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.
