Doyle Eugene Lewis
Funeral services for Doyle Eugene Lewis, 92, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2016 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Lewis passed away at 6:24 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at West Vue Nursing Center.
He was born August 14, 1923, at Dora, Missouri, to Edward Lewis and Audra Luna Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a veteran, having served with the United Coast Guard during World War II in the South Pacifica Theatre. He was married April 8, 1945, at Freeport, Texas, to Aline Maltby, who preceded him in death on November 5, 1997. On June 10, 2002, he was married at Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to Verneal Hoglen Ball. Before his retirement he worked for thirty-four years at Dow Chemical. Mr. Lewis was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Plains.
He is survived by his wife, Vernal Lewis, West Plains, Missouri; one son, Steve Lewis, State of Texas; three step-children, Larry G. Ball and wife, Faye, Vanzant, Missouri, Brenda Wilson, West Plains and Barry Ball, Caulfield, Missouri; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one brother, Byron Lewis, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, first wife, one daughter, Geline Gibson and two brothers, Walt and Don Lewis, precede him in death.
Mr. Lewis will lie in state from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Sunday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Monday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Restwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Lake Jackson, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
