Eva Jessie Featherston
Funeral services for Eva Jessie Featherston, 90, Red Bud, Illinois and formerly of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Featherston died 5:38 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Oak Hill Nursing Home, Waterloo, Illinois. She was born August 26, 1923 at Hoxie, Arkansas to Gardner Houston Whitsell and Jessie Florence Little Whitsell. On July 15, 1950, she was married at Salem, Arkansas to Donald Ray Featherston who preceded her in death on January 29, 2007. During World War II, she worked at an ammunition plant and later she attended beauty school to become a beautician. Mrs. Featherston enjoyed crocheting and loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She was a member of the Church of God, Brandsville, Missouri.
She is survived by two children, Patricia Robert, husband, Carroll, Red Bud, Illinois and Steve Featherston, wife, Terri, Eagle Rock, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christopher Robert, wife, Jaime, Annette Rau, husband, Nathan, John Paul Robert, wife, Lindsey and Tracie Sipes, husband, Aaron; four great-grandchildren, Ava Rau, Hazel Rau, Lilly Robert and Luke Robert; one sister, Georgia Acklin, husband, Don, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, one brother, Raymond Whitsell and wife, Mabel, and two sisters, Reva Blackshear and husband, Everett and Louise Bushong and husband, Travis, precede her in death.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 11th at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Union Hill Cemetery near Brandsville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Hill Cemetery, Brandsville Church of God or Alzheimer’s Association and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
