Two weeks after high school graduation, our Dads escorted Faye & me to SMS, Springfield, to commence our college careers. We were roommates that summer as we began exploring our new adult lives. We pledged the same sorority (Alpha Sigma Alpha) and had four close years together before going on to the new careers these experiences prepared for us. There was no further contact except for the occasional Christmas card. Some 35 years later we reconnected when Janice & Faye dropped into my office at OMC just to say “hi”. And Faye sent me a lovely letter when Joyce passed away. After our last high school reunion I mailed her pictures and called her about a week later to identify and talk about the attendees and the many fun times we had togather. It was a good time. Rest in Peace, Faye. Will remember you often.

    Norma Jean and Janice,
Billie Kay and I were saddened to learn about Faye. She was a class mate and a friend. We are out of state and will miss her service. Our thoughts wil be with you both.

Norma and Janice, So sorry for your loss. Faye and I were great friends in high school. Last saw her when our mothers were both in Brooke Haven Nursing Center several years ago. Didn’t know she was ill. Praying for your whole family. Love this picture of her.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Faye McCrory. In the 1940s, our family lived on a farm east of West Plains. John and Alice McCrory were neighbors and lived just south of Cedar Grove School where I was the only first grader for a year. When the creek south of the school flooded, John took us across the creek on horseback. Norma Jean, you became the only first grader the next year after I became the only second grader. Miss May Pentecost was our wonderful teacher, and I am still convinced that our education was as good or better than that of the “town kids.” At West Plains High School, we had a home economics glass together. You took the entire sewing machine apart and put it back together brilliantly. I was really good in English and music classes but should have flunked home ec under Mable Heaton. I have many recollections of those days so long gone and send my most sincere condolences.

Dear Norma Jean and dear little Janice. I was sorrowed to hear about Faye’s death. She and you all as well, was like sisters to me. I loved her so much and was sorry to hear from Kiri about her health. She and I used to talk about God when we were little girls. She worried about all her little friends becoming saved. I know she was a Christian, and I know she is basking with God in Heaven. We lost contact in our later busy lives, but I usually knew where she was. When she was in Denver, I was in Colorado Springs. I never could find out her address or I would have found her. I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend her services due to my health issues, but my heart is there with you all. Little school kids are like family in a way. You all were always mine. God be with you and bring you sweet peace. Go with God, dearest Faye. Spread your holy wings and fly high. I love you. Faye was the older, much-admired cousin. She learned to read first and read to us for hours. Hugs to the family.

I know this message is two years late, but I just found the notice and I do remember the McCrory Family and wanted them to know I remember them and remember their daughters. My mother was a high school English teacher at the time the Adamson Family lived in West Plains, Mo. My twin and I were born in Christa Hogan Hospital. I have such wonderful memories of a happy childhood in West Plains. The picture of Faye is beautiful and I recognized her immediately and I am saddened to learn of her death. Even though it has been a lot of years, I still have loving memories of people in West Plains. My love to your family, Jan Adamson
