Hazel Lorene Stokes
Funeral services for Hazel Lorene Stokes, 91, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stokes died at 8:15 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, at her home.
She was born December 27, 1921, at Bly, Missouri, to James Clarence Lair and Della Margaret Burgess Lair. On August 24, 1946, she was married at Alton, Missouri, to Ellis Edward Stokes, who preceded her in death on April 14, 1990. Mrs. Stokes had received her business degree from Missouri State University, Resident Center and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, reading, music and loved church. Mrs. Stokes was a member of the Church of Christ and attended West 160 Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Vicky Ford, husband, Leon, West Plains, Missouri and Donna Groves, husband, Danny, Boonville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Amy Jo Wood, husband Chris, Anna Lea Bayona, husband, Michael, Jerad Allen Stokes and Ashley Leigh Young, husband, Shane; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Allen Wood, Samuel David Wood and Gracelyn Marie Young; one brother, Don Lair, West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Doris Deidiker, Farmington, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, two brothers, Victor and Noel Lair and two sisters, Opal Vaughn and Nerine Sigler, precede her in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West 160 Church of Christ or Fair Haven Children’s Home, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

May the peace of God and the promise of eternal life surround you and give you comfort in the days and years to come. Hazel will surely be remembered as a Christian, a sweet, quiet loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

I spent a lot of time with Mrs. Stokes when i was younger. Anna and i even spent the night there together a time or two. She will forever be ingrained in my memory for the wonderful woman that she was.
