Linda Sue Pendergrass
Funeral services for Linda Sue Pendergrass, 64, Gepp, Arkansas, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Enterprise Baptist Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pendergrass was called home to be with her heavenly Father at 6:15 a.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.
She was born August 7, 1948, at Bexar in Fulton, County, Arkansas, to George Aaron Cowgill and Nellie Alzada Porterfield Cowgill. She attendedViola High School and on July 18, 1965 was married to the love of her life, Russell Pendergrass, who preceded her in death on October 17, 2010. This love brought forth a son, Melvin George Pendergrass and a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Edwards. She was the proud granny to Codie Lynn Pendergrass and Russella Lynne Johnson and her husband, Jeremiah Johnson. Linda was a Christian and had been an active member of Enterprise Baptist Church for forty-three years. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and always volunteered to help where needed. She loved to sing and witness to others about God. Linda worked on the family farm and was a hairstylist for over thirty years at Professional Hair Designers. She was constantly helping others and serving her community. She enjoyed spending her free time following her grandkids activities and visiting with family and friends. Her twinkling eyes and cheerful smile could light up a room. She was truly a caring and loving person, who was beautiful inside and out. There was not a doubt as to how much she loved her family, friends and God.
She left behind her children and grandchildren, who were her pride and joy; her brothers and sisters, Lee and Darlis Cowgill, David and Sue Cowgill, Marcia Griffin, Anita and Don Mitchell, Fay and Lanny Griffee; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Royce and Alice Pendergrass; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was greeted at Heaven’s gates by her husband, parents, grandparents, son-in-law, Keith Edwards and a brother-in-law, Earl Griffin.
Mrs. Pendergrass will lie in state from 4:00 p.m., Wednesday until 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bakersfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Relay for Life or American Diabetes Association, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Linda did my hair for several years. As an RN in administrative work at both OMC and then AEL, my schedule was crazy and Linda always accomodated,,we had several late evening “get togethers” where we provided pizza or sandwiches for Linda in appreciation of doing hair curs etc so late in the day,,THe funniest story (you can ask Karen!) is when I told Linda I picked and cooked “Elderberry pies” and was just amazed at how amy of these grew on my farm in Douglas County…Come to find out,,they were Pokeberries!! Linda laughed so hard at me picking, cooking pies AND serving these pies to friends to family,,,She said she “wet her pants” laughing so hard,,,,I will miss knowing Linda is there…She was one of the hardest working – life loving and family loving people I have ever known.
God Speed and peace Linda.

Linda was a special person who touched the core of my heart. She did my hair for several years and every time was filled with laughter beyond control. Her love of family, friends and life itself will always be remembered. Her selfless service taught me so much. I will always be grateful for the crossing of our paths. God bless the family she leaves behind. May the void be filled with the memories of her laughter and the joy she shared with others.

Thinking of and praying for each of you in the days ahead. I also share in your grief at the loss of such a wonderful friend. She has mentored me, shared God’s love with me, cried with me, and also rejoiced with me over the good times. We have had some great laughs while she did my hair over the last 20 years. I can hardly imagine not seeing her smile and hearing her laugh on a regular basis. I love you sweet Linda and I’ll miss you!

It is so hard to explain how I feel at this time. The Cowgill family was always important to all of us. We grew up together in our small community. Linda and I played basketball together under coach Hill. She never changed. Was so in love with Russell and gave so much of her of her life to others in her teen age life.I will never forget her . Remember she taught you to love one another and that she is now home with your dad and god who always gave her the courage to go on . What a wonderful smile. In a while all the memories of the good times will come back and you will be able to smile .

My thoughts and prayers go out to Linda’s family and all who loved her for the wonderful, giving person she was. She was my beauty operator for years and I work with her brother David at Arlee. She and I would swap funny stories about David while she cut my hair. She was always smiling the beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed by so many people’s lives that she touched. RIP my beautiful friend.

Linda was our hair stylist for almost 21 years, and in that time we came to know a wonderful person who loved her family and was so proud of her grandkids. On one of my first visits to Linda, back in 1992, it started to snow so hard it piled up nearly 4 inches by the time she finished cutting my hair. We both headed for home in that storm, and ever since that day she always blamed me when it snowed. It was a joke she and I shared for almost 21 years.
Our thoughts are with Linda’s family during this sad time.

My dear sweet friend, Linda…I haven’t seen you in so many years, but I have no doubt if I were to see you today, it would be like we had been together last week. Unfortunately, that won’t happen, but we WILL be together again, My Friend. If there ever was a person on earth with Angel qualities, it was you!
Melvin and Cheryl, your Mom is happy now, holding hands with Russell and waiting for you to join them when the time is right – and she will be there waiting with that wonderful smile of hers!
May God wrap you in HIs arms during this difficult time!

Linda was my hair stylist for over 20 years. She gave my daughter her first haircut and then six years later cut it again for Locks of Love. Even though we only saw her a few times each year, it was like we were family. She talked loving about her children and grandchilden over the years, so I felt like I “watched” them grow up and knew them even though I only met them a couple of times. I will miss her laugh and her sparkling personality. You will continue to be in my prayers. May God bless and comfort your family.

I only found out this morning that Linda had passed away. I first met Linda in April of 1979. She greeted me as if she had known me all her life, and it was that way every time I saw her after that. There was never a time that I was in her shop that she was not on the phone at one time or another either with Russell or with Melvin or one of her grandkids.
She would always have a funny story to tell or something about her family. I had called Linda in April of 2012 close to closing time for her to cut my hair, I was having to make a trip to Colorado because my sister was very ill, she not only saw me that day but called me while i was away, she was a very good friend a loving person to all that met her, I will so miss her, that funny laugh her smile, the stories about her working on the farm changing tires, She was a true friend in every way, I love you Linda and will miss you until we meet again, you and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. My dear sweet friend you will never be forgotton. May you rest in peace.
