Delores Mollie Doss
Delores Mollie Doss, 90, of West Plains, Missouri, passed away on January 19, 2013. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 10 a.m. at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Richard Wright will be officiating. Visitation will be held at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m.. on Monday, January 21. Burial will follow the funeral at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at White Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Delores was born in Moko, Arkansas, on December 13, 1922, the daughter of Jesse Blaine Skaggs and Mary Luella Haslett Skaggs. She attended West Plains High School. On June 11, 1938, she was married to Ray F. Doss at West Plains who preceded her in death on June 17, 1979. She later married Dallas Reese who preceded her in death in August, 2001.
Delores lived and worked on the family farm near White Church for over 60 years and worked as a retail clerk for many years in the West Plains area. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for most of her adult life and attended First Baptist Church after moving into West Plains in later life. She enjoyed many creative past times such as tole painting, crocheting, and wood crafts, but her flower garden was her favorite.
Delores is survived by her sister, Lois Newton; her sons, Ronnie Doss and wife, Veda, Terry Doss and wife, Adele, of White Church; Jack Doss and wife, Cindy of West Plains; grandchildren, Andy Cox, Michelle Dorsey and husband, Tommy, Miranda Schuesler, Mapuana Sullivan, Debbie Leach, Tammy Henderson, Mark Doss and wife, Kathy, Blaine Doss and wife, Cindy, Kevin Doss and wife, Vanessa, Rebecca Doss, Sarah Doss, Holly Carlson and husband, Cory, Jay Shelton, Nicole Rothove and husband, Wesley, and many great- and great-great grandchildren, and other family and friends as well as her life-long friends, Gladys Hayes of Springfield, Missouri and Betty Harper of West Plains.
Delores was preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Doss and Dallas Reese; her parents, Jessie Blaine and Mary Luella Skaggs; a daughter, Frieda Coburn; a brother, Buford Skaggs; and three sisters, Buena Javaux, Emble Pingree and Vistie Skaggs who died in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family of Delores Mollie Doss wishes to thank West Vue Nursing Home and Pleasant Valley Manor and their employees for the kind and compassionate care she received while a resident there.
