Kathryn Melba Slane

Kathryn Melba Slane, 76, of Springfield, MO passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Mercy hospital.

Kathryn was born April 1, 1945 in Mt. Home, Arkansas to Willie and Waukee Poe. She graduated magna cum laude from Bakersfield High School in 1963. She then attended both Draughon’s Business College and Southwest Missouri State University (MSU).

Kathryn wore many hats in life. She was a proud stay-at-home mom, an insurance agent with Sentry Insurance and continued in the insurance industry until retirement.

Kathryn was a creative and artistic gardener. She was gifted with a green thumb. She was a devoted wife and mother, an avid genealogist and enjoyed working with Find A Grave. She enjoyed the love of the great outdoors and was an award winning Camp Dutch Oven Cook.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her father Willie Lee Poe and an infant sister Rosaleah Poe.

She is survived by her husband Dennis Slane, her son Brent Slane and her mother Waukee Poe.

A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 pm Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will be at 3:30 pm at Udall Cemetery, Ozark County Missouri.
