Kinsman Charles “Al” Kosin
Kinsman Charles “Al” Kosin, 90, of West Plains, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at home under the care of Ozarks Healthcare Hospice.
Mr. Kosin was born in Geneva, Illinois, the eldest son of Rev Wesley and Gladys Kosin. He graduated from Wheaton Academy (now Wheaton Christian High School) in 1953. He married Mary Ann Lammers on October 29, 1955, and the two had three children together, Sheila, John, and Sandy. Early on Kinsman worked for Zenith and later worked as an auto mechanic. He retired as a union carpenter.
On June 25, 1977, Al married Rebecca Kyser (nee Grimm) in Galena, Illinois. Rebecca had four sons from a prior marriage, Tom, Rodney, Donald and Steve. Shortly thereafter, they made their home in West Plains, until Rebecca’s death in 1998.
On May 25, 2000, Al married Mona Ragsdale (nee Harris) of West Plains. During their marriage they enjoyed traveling and tending their garden until Mona’s passing in 2019.
Al was active in the Elks at both Wheaton Lodge 2258 and West Plains Lodge 2418. He served as an Exalted Ruler in both lodges. He enjoyed fishing and camping in his earlier years
He was preceded in death by spouses Mary Ann, Rebecca, and Mona; son, John; stepson, Rodney. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary (Michael) Hards of Sidney, Australia; and sister Beatrice Kosin, who died in November 1972, while serving as a missionary in Laos.
He is survived by a brother, Rev. Frederick Kosin (Jenny) of Darlington, South Carolina; Daughters Sheila Willer (Craig) of Bartlett, Illinois, and Sandra Gallimore (Mark) of Ferryville, Wisconsin. He is also survived by stepsons, Thomas Damm (Theresa), Donald Kosin, of West Plains, and Steve Kosin of Merrillville, Indiana.
A memorial service is planned for September 5, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at Spring Creek Community Church, 3432 E State Route K, West Plains, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.
