Stephen Alan Mitchell

A celebration of life service for Stephen Alan Mitchell, 69, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of West Plains. 

Mr. Mitchell passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Ozarks Healthcare. 

He was born February 29, 1956, at Frankfurt, Germany, to George Mitchell and Mabel Bostick.  On August 28, 2010, he was married at Branson, Missouri, to Elizabeth Laporre.  Stephen dedicated much of his life to serving others as a paramedic and volunteer firefighter. He had a strong sense of duty and compassion, always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed shooting guns, sailing, and was an exceptional cook. His dry wit and love of laughter endeared him to all who knew him. Mr. Mitchell loved his family deeply and found great joy in caring for others.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mitchell, of the family home; one daughter, Gewel Niebaum and husband, Brian, of Lee Summit, Missouri; three stepchildren, Ezmeralda Niebaum, Uston Delos Santos, and Remali Delos Santos; one former daughter-in-law, Cassie Delos Santos; two sisters, Patricia Trout of Colorado, and Julia Azua of Las Vegas, Nevada; one aunt, Deloris Cantwell; two nieces, Carroll, and Jennifer; four nephews, William, Raymond, Nicholas and wife, Erin, and Benjamin; and eleven great nieces and great nephews.

His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains, Missouri.
