Having to say goodbye to my Mother that day was one of the hardest experiences of my life outside of losing my Father. It had only been just over nine months since my Father passed away; and the idea of losing her, too, was more than I could bear. No longer would I hear her voice say, “I love you.” No longer could I call her and ask for her advice or to chat and share laughter. No longer could I see her smile or feel her hand holding mine. No longer…
It was a very sad day when the call came my Mother passed. It was sudden and unexpected. I had talked to her twice that very day, long enjoyable conversations. I had no idea it would be my last–I will forever cherish that. There were no indications of something wrong. I have to believe she did not suffer as my Father had with dementia and that he was waiting for her with open arms. They are “together forever”, a phrase they often shared. She missed him terribly and they are now “together forever” in God’s name. You will always be in my heart and in my memories… I Love You! Until we meet again…
