Doffless Harris
Funeral services for Doffless Harris, 89, Canton, Illinois, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2016 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris passed away at 11:27 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 6, 1926, at Gamaliel, Arkansas, to William Wilson Harris and Mable Hall Harris. On December 15, 1946, he was married at Salem, Arkansas, to Wilene Wright. Mr. Harris was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during World War II, receiving several medals while serving his country. He worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois, until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed raising Angus cattle and fox hunting. Doffless was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Mr. Harris was a member of Amy Baptist Church, Hocomo, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Wilene Harris, of the family home; three children, Vicki Whiteman and husband, Butch, Canton, Illinois, Ronald Lee Harris and wife, Melody, Canton, Illinois and Jeanine Mautner and husband, Jay, West Plains, Missouri; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; one brother-in-law, Joe Bill Wright and wife, Carol, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, one daughter, Marilyn Wilcoxen and one sister, Berdina DeWitt, precede him in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
