We meet Donald in September of 1970 and have considered him as a friend and brother in Christ ever since. Our last visit with him was at a 4th of July meeting in Springfield a few year ago. I called him one time about hunting on his property and he would allow it-“but don’t shot the ones he had been feeding near his house.” He had a special place in his heart for children and was a second father to the twins. He autographed one of his songs for my son – Jared and we still cherish that song book. Yesterday we were in Arkansas to hear that man preach and lead a song.

Don – we had admired your faith, courage, conviction and positive influence on us. May you rest in the eternal presence of the Lord.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of our dear brother in Christ. He will be sadly missed. We much appreciate and sing often the beautiful songs that he wrote.

We met Donald in Columbia Missouri where he attended the Church of Christ and respected him very much. Our family enjoyed many good visits with him. He was a great asset to the church as it was a new congregation. We send our sympathy and prayers for the family.

I became acquainted with Don in 1971 when we moved to Columbia and where we resided until 1974. During that time Carolyn and I attended church with him and became his friends. He was a frequent visitor in our home and we were frequent guests of his as well.

In the summer of 1975 I returned to Columbia to continue my graduate studies at the University of Missouri. Don graciously let me share his apartment that summer, and the following four more, until I completed my degree programs there. His allowing me to stay with him helped, especially that first summer, deal with the cost of my schooling.

I have been in education for 43 years and can say that Donald Warren was one of the most brilliant people I have ever known. Though his formal learning was limited, his innate intelligence was well beyond “normal” as I verified in one of my classes using him as a subject. He was self taught beyond what anyone else might have taught him. His interests were many and skills were amazing. There was nothing he could not learn or do if he wanted to.

Don heart was as big as the world and he freely shared what he had with those who needed it more. His influence of over four decades ago still has a positive impact on me today.
