I was so sad to hear about this. Uncle Bud is what we always called Harold Jr, he was a funny, caring and loving person. When I was a kid he would always take me outside and we would check on the hens and chickens together, he would show me their eggs and let me play outside, I can remember being so excited when he married Karen and I got to meet her boys, Billy & Bobby. We were closer in age and that meant more friends for me to play with, and it was even more exciting when Aaron came along, man… that seems like a long time ago. I can remember getting to go to their house to visit and swim in their pool and play basketball. It was one of my favorite places growing up. Uncle Bud would always check on us and made sure we were being good, he always had a story to tell and I loved that. He will be missed but I won’t say goodbye, I’ll say see ya later. Our love and prayers go out to the entire family, especially Aunt Karen, Billy, Bobby and Aaron and their loved ones.

My Brother In law Harold. You will be truly missed. I thank you for being my great Brother In Law. I thank you for being my Sisters best friend and loving husband. I thank you for loving your children and grandbabies and all your family. And I know you did. I appreciate the goodness, and your caring heart, and your friendship. I will always think of you and smile. You could be so funny. I will always be proud of and thank you for you sacrifice that you gave to stand for our wellbeing and freedom in the Army in the horrific Vietnam era. You are an “American Soldier”. I pray the Lord to keep my Sis and family in his loving arms. Help all to heal from the sadness of your passing. We know this is not goodbye, and we will meet again someday. Always Rest In Peace my dear Bro In Law. Love ya. God Bless!

My dear Mrs. Collins, please accept the condolences of the Troopers of the 11th Armored Cavalry’s veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. Harold was a dedicated and courageous warrior, and in a crucial time, became one of us, one of our own. He served honorably and faithfully with the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment in F Troop in 1969 and 1970. Exhibiting daring and courageous acumen, he was in the fore front, as the regiment completed its mission throughout large areas of Vietnam. Harold’s name will be published in our newsletter, Thunder Run, acknowledged solemnly during the Memorial Service at our annual reunion, and be enrolled on the scroll with our honored dead. As grateful Americans, we pause and salute a brave man, a recipient of three Purple Hearts and The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry; he proudly honored our regiment. He wore the uniform, was willing to sacrifice, and even put his life on the line for his country, his family and his fellow man. Chaplain Bill Karabinos (11th ACVVC).
