Clifford D. Corson
Clifford D. Corson, 71, of West Plains, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Ozarks Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Corson was born November 6, 1943, at Metropolis, Illinois, to William Corson and Virginia Phillips Corson Hanner. After high school he attended Southern Illinois University. Mr. Corson was a veteran, having served with the United States Army. He was a life member of Am Vets Post 98, West Plains, Missouri and the American Legion Post 621, West Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoyed golf, chess and was an avid cribbage player. His greatest love besides his family was his horses and trail riding. He enjoyed riding every chance he could get.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia “Midge” Corson, of the family home; three sons, David Corson, wife, Michelle, Altoona, Iowa, Russell Corson and Clifford Alan Corson, both of Urbandale, Iowa; two granddaughters, Pamela Corson, Miami, Florida and Chelsea Corson, Altoona, Iowa; one brother, Robert Corson, Golconda, Illinois; one sister, Linda Yuengal, Belleville, Illinois; and one much respected and loved friend, Tom Niles.
His parents, beloved stepmother, Mary Corson, two sisters, Sandra Sue Corson and Beverly Corson Wilson and much loved brother-in-law, John Wilson, precede him in death.
In accordance with Clifford’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service and his remains will be scattered on the horse trails of Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. Arrangements under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
